Friends of Elder Citizens,Inc, (FOEC) is a 501 ( c ) 3 private organization formed in 1979 and incorporated in 1981, administered by a Board of Directors elected by the open membership. Public Board meetings are held the third Thursday of every month rotating between the two senior centers, at 705 Commerce in Palacios,Texas and at the 501 North Wells in Edna, Texas. Meetings are scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m. All interested parties are encouraged to attend.
Funding to support FOEC operations comes from private donations, foundations, Agency on Aging, Title XX and XIX, Department of Transportation and contracts through Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission. For information on making deductible donation contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
We offer Group and Individual Activities( both recreational and educational) including health and safety education. The Senior Centers in Palacios and Edna offer a hot nutritious lunch to individuals 60 years and older and people with disabilities. FOEC operates programs to meet the needs of senior citizens in Matagorda and Jackson Counties for Nutrition, Transportation, and Socialization. Transportation is offered to the general public through R Transit.

Becky Rusk, a Palacios resident, joined the FOEC team in February. She wins the hearts of all she meets.

Home delivered meals and lunches distributed in Jackson County and Palacios Center are prepared in the certified kitchen in Palacios,Texas by Margaret Hernandez, Head Cook, and helpers Tammy Gonzalez and Cynthia Saldinera. Menus are provided by certified nutritionist and ensure 1/3 recommended daily allowance as required by Texas Health and Human Services.
